What I Believe

Is this a tough question?  I am not sure. It is quite difficult to express and very easy to state all at the same time.  But, before I make that statement let me answer a few questions:

Why do I feel the need to espouse my beliefs?

We are all living in very uncertain times where our freedoms are under attack in a very open and dramatic way.  It is incumbent upon all of us to critically think about what is going on in our own society and take a stand.  Silence is unacceptable.  Being bullied into silence is intolerable.

Why have I decided to create a blog to express my ideas?

I really do not like my Facebook contacts that post items relating to their political, social or  religious views.  I have been know to block those individuals whether they agree with me or not.  So, I have decided not to make the same mistake.  I will however post in Facebook when I make a new blog post, discreetly.

So, What do I believe.

Well, that would be one to much for any single post but let’s start this Blog with the basics.

I believe in one God, Father Almighty, Creator of heaven and earth, and of all things visible and invisible.

And in one Lord Jesus Christ, the only-begotten Son of God, begotten of the Father before all ages; Light of Light, true God of true God, begotten, not created, of one essence with the Father, through Whom all things were made. Who for us men and for our salvation came down from heaven and was incarnate of the Holy Spirit and the Virgin Mary and became man. He was crucified for us under Pontius Pilate, and suffered and was buried; and He rose on the third day, according to the Scriptures. And He ascended into heaven and is seated at the right hand of the Father; He will come again with glory to judge the living and dead. His Kingdom shall have no end.

And in the Holy Spirit, the Lord, the Creator of life, Who proceeds from the Father, Who together with the Father and the Son is worshiped and glorified, Who spoke through the prophets. In one, holy, catholic, and apostolic Church. I confess one baptism for the forgiveness of sins. I look for the resurrection of the dead, and the life of the age to come. Amen.

In Addition (I believe the following each of which I will address in a different future posts):

  1. I believe the holy scriptures to be true.
  1. I believe evolution to be a good “theory”  But, it is just a theory, not proven.
  1. I believe in intelligent design, obviously.
  1. I believe that I have sinned egregiously during my life and still do occasionally.
  1. I believe that I have been guided by God and his messengers during the course of my life.  Not, because I am special but, because I have requested help through prayer and I am probably not bright enough to figure it out without a strong message.
  1. I believe that every time, with few exceptions, when I judge or criticize someone I can find that same fault in myself or my past.
  1. I believe that abortion is the killing of innocent children.
